CATCH-UP SCREENING from the 22nd Sacramento French Film Festival (June 9-11, 2023).

When Cédric finds out that the factory he works at is about to be sold to an investment fund, he enlists his childhood friends to try to transfer factory ownership to the employees. The Takeover is a feel-good fable about the power of workers united against speculators that will keep you on the edge of your seat till the very end.

As his father did before him, Cédric (Pierre Deladonchamps, A Kid – SFFF 2016) works in a factory specialized in precision mechanics. An avid climber, there is no other place he’d rather live than in his small village, surrounded by the glorious mountains of Haute-Savoie in the French Alps. When he finds out that the factory is about to be sold to a new investment fund and that layoffs are being planned, Cédric and three of his childhood friends (Laetitia Dosch, Appearances – SFFF 2021 Gaspard at the Wedding - SFFF 2018, Grégory Montel, Perfumes – MiniFest 2019, Call My Agent!, and Vincent Deniard) decide to join forces to buy the company. With the help of occasional allies from the corporate world, this unexpected team of amateurs will have to learn the ropes of business to beat the financial system at its own game.

With his first fiction film, documentary filmmaker Gilles Perret (A Place in the Sun – SFFF 2019) continues on his social vein. The Takeover is a jubilant tale about fighting the good fight.
